Guitar Hero 4 – Master the Drums

Playing the drums on Guitar Hero 4 might seem like an easy choice, but it can actually be quite a task to master this instrument. For one, you need to have an exceptional sense of rhythm to fully master the drum system. However, there is much more to keeping the beat with Guitar Hero 4. You will also want to hold the sticks right, hit the pads in sequence, and master the perfect roll.

Some people are so afraid of dropping the sticks that they grip them extremely tightly when striking the drum pads. Unfortunately, this actually makes game play harder. By loosening your grip on the sticks, they will easily bounce back each time you hit the pads. This makes it much easier to move quickly from one pad to another. Plus, hold too tightly can become quite uncomfortable and make playing a lot less fun.

Once you are holding the sticks properly, you will want to perfect your striking technique. Guitar Hero 4 is not a test of power, it is a test of skill. So, there is no need to his the drum pads with excessive force. Not only can this damage your sticks or pad, it will make you tired and drag down your score. Generally, the harder the hit the longer it takes. So, if you want to move from pad to pad quickly, keep the intensity down.

Another trick to keep in mind is that, as with real drumming, quick movements come from your wrist, not your arm. So, practice using your wrist and fingers to move the sticks rather than waving your entire forearm for each strike. It may also be helpful to rotate your hands so your knuckles face upwards. This encourages you to move the sticks with your wrist, not your hands. Also, on rolls and short notes, you will want to focus on your fingers to make quick movements and strike the pads rapidly.

Another difficult aspect of the Guitar Hero 4 drums is the kick pedal. At first, you may find your leg getting tired and see yourself missing notes. However, this can be easily solved. As the game suggests, you should try keeping the pedal down between notes. Hovering above the pedal can be uncomfortable and make it harder for you to focus. So, only raise your foot when you need to prepare for the next hit. Also, you do not need to stomp on the pedal to make it work. Pressing gently requires less energy and time while producing the same effect.

If you have never played a drum set before, mastering the Guitar Hero 4 pads will take some time. Thankfully, the game’s creators have anticipated this. By starting on Beginner mode, you can play songs at your skill level without getting frustrated. The more you practice, the faster you will be able to roll those sticks and kick that pedal. Soon, you’ll truly be the moving beat of the band.
