Guitar Hero 4- Master the Guitar
You may not be playing real
instruments in Guitar Hero 4, but the game still requires considerable
skill. Few, if any, players could just pick up the mock guitar
controller and pump out a perfect expert level score. Instead, the game
requires practice and determination. This can become frustrating to
some, though, which is why it is important to know some great tips and
tricks for mastering the Guitar Hero 4 guitar.

Finger placement is perhaps the hardest Guitar Hero 4 skill to
master. Many beginning players think they need to slide their hand up
and down the neck of the guitar. However, it is actually much easier to
play the game if you keep your hand in one place. Instead of sliding up
and down, you should try to just reach with your fingers. This can get
tricky on the Hard and Expert settings if you want to use the slide bar,
but practice does in fact make perfect. Another important tip when playing Guitar Hero 4’s guitar is to remember
how chords work. You are allowed to hold down the button above the
required note and still achieve the same sounds. Put simply, this means
if you hold down both the Red and Yellow buttons, you can still get
credit for a plain Yellow note. Just remember, this will not work the
same if a Red note appears.
One trap players often fall into on the guitar is abusing the so-called
“whammy” bar to fluctuate notes during a hold. If you are a great
player, feel free to use this extra effect. However, beginners should be
wary of using it too much. It can become a distraction and pull your
hand out of position for the next note.
Also, a lot of players fail to use the shoulder strap that comes with
the guitar, or simply put it on the wrong way. Remember, like a real
guitar, you want to use the strap to get a better grip on the
instrument. However, this will not be effective if you let the guitar
hang too low or too pull it up too high. Ideally, the guitar should hang
just to your hips before you start playing.
Finally, a lot of players express frustration when trying to activate
star power by lifting the guitar neck. For the experienced player, this
will probably be no issue. However, it is a movement that requires some
adjustment, and can be hard to do while focusing on pressing notes.
Instead, try to activate the star power during a lull in the song just
before a large stream of notes. Remember, star power is based on time so
you don’t want to start it up and then have no notes to play.
As with real musical instruments, practice makes perfect in Guitar Hero
4. Keep playing, and you’ll start to see major improvements. Few people
give up on this popular game out of frustration. So, start on a low
difficulty and you’ll be working up to Expert in no time. |
