Guitar Hero 4 vs. Guitar Hero III
The Guitar Hero game series, which is developed by Neversoft and
published by RedOctane and Activision, really took the world by storm
when it was first released in 2005. At first, the game was playable only
on the PlayStation 2 console. Since then, though, the series has truly
expanded and each new addition truly makes some improvements. Today, the
most recent release, Guitar Hero 4, is available for four different
video game consoles; Wii, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360,
and truly stands out from its predecessors.

Anyone who has followed the Guitar Hero games is probably wondering
how Guitar Hero 4 could possibly be different from Guitar Hero III.
Well, the major improvement made upon this latest version is the
inclusion of new instruments to play. In the past, players were
essentially stuck playing guitar, or possibly base, and relying on the
computer to fulfill the rest of the band components. However, now Guitar
Hero 4 lets you choose to be a drummer or a vocalist in addition to the
usual guitar strumming roles. To do this, the game comes with
specialized controllers for players to operate.

Another great new feature of Guitar Hero 4 is the ability to create
your own songs. Players can use the “Music Studio” play mode to build
new rhythms and write their own tunes. After saving their masterpiece,
players can grab an instrument and really make the new song come to
life. A player can even share his or her unique music with other players
online using the GHTunes service.
Of course, if you do not feel like composing your own music, Guitar
Hero 4 does come with a ton of music updated from Guitar Hero III. In
fact, many of the songs selected for inclusion in Guitar Hero 4 were
choices that never made it into the previous game. These songs are also
geared towards the inclusion of new instruments. Plus, you can basically
expand your music selection infinitely with downloadable song packs.
While this was a feature of Guitar Hero III, developers have updated the
system to include more regular updates and full albums. Also, the
problem with adding content to the Wii system version has been
addressed.

When playing Guitar Hero 4, the setup is essentially the same as
previous games. However, the challenges and bosses you face have been
updated to keep even veteran players challenged. At the same time,
complaints over the excessive difficulty of some Guitar Hero III
challenges have been addressed so that game play is smoother and less
frustrating. You can also use Guitar Hero 4 with up to eight players for
expanded multiplayer modes.
Ultimately, Guitar Hero 4 is the most unique addition to the Guitar
Hero series. It greatly expands upon previous features and can truly
compete with similar games that have come on the market. With the
release of Guitar Hero 4, it is clear this is one video game franchise
that will continue to evolve, adapt, and keep players happy for a long
time to come. |
