Playing Guitar Hero 4 with Friends
The best video games are those you can play with friends or alone.
Realizing this, the creators of Guitar Hero 4 incorporated a number of
multiplayer options into the game. In fact, you can play Guitar Hero 4
with up to seven other people. You can even play with friends thousands
of miles away using an internet connection. Plus, not all Guitar Hero
4’s multiplayer choices focus on competition. There is even a setup
where you can work with your friends and accomplish goals together.
One of the best multiplayer options on Guitar Hero 4 is the
“Face-Off” mode. This allows you to challenge friends on various
instruments. You can either do a local face-off, which means you play
with others using one console, or an online face-off. To begin an online
face-off, though, you must have your console hooked up to the web. You
also need to have virtual friends with which to play. During a face-off,
players select individual difficulty levels, but must play the same
song. Players do not play simultaneously. Instead, one person plays a
segment of the song, then it switches to the other player. Guitar Hero 4
also offers a “Pro Face-Off” mode. This multiplayer variation levels the
playing field. Both players pick the same difficulty level and play the
full track. In either scenario, the highest scoring player wins.

You can also work together with friends as a full band. This can be done
in a short-term “Cooperative” mode or in the full “Career Mode” game.
You can either join up on one console or coordinate online. When you
play cooperatively, all your scores are combined together. That means
everyone has to pull their weight if you want to pass a song. There is
no option for a “no fail” setting. So, if you don’t know the notes, you
will not finish the song. You also share “Star Power” bonuses when
playing together. As you succeed in your band career, you can earn
virtual money and upgrade your looks, instruments, and playlist.

If playing online, you and your friends can even take your four
person band up against another four person group anywhere in the world.
This means eight players will be competing simultaneously. This battle
of the bands feature is one of the most attractive parts of Guitar Hero
4 as it means large groups can finally rock out together.
With all these multiplayer options, it is no wonder that many groups
have started holding massive Guitar Hero 4 tournaments. With real prizes
and lots of media, some of these truly turn players into rock stars.
However, you don’t have to be a star player to become a rocker with this
game. Just the ability to grab a friend and play together makes Guitar
Hero 4 a worthy video game. Plus, you don’t even have to be in the same
room to enjoy all the features this fantastic game has to offer. So,
even if you can’t play a real instrument, you and your friends can still
jam together anytime. |
